I’m an Operations Support Officer (OSO) in Starion’s Frascati office in Italy. I also spend half my time working with the Finance team and I support quality-related activities.
What’s your role?
I’m an Operations Support Officer (OSO) in the Starion’s Frascati office in Italy, having joined the company in November 2022.
What’s a typical day in your working life like?
Within the Operations Support team, our tasks are really varied, but they are all focused on supporting colleagues in their daily working activities. This includes welcoming newcomers and giving them all the information they need to get off to the best possible start in the company. We support colleagues who leave on a mission and the ones who relocate from overseas to Italy. Additionally, we work closely with the Frascati office’s major suppliers and ensure that the office is always a welcoming place for those who work here and for those visiting us.
I also follow quality-related activities and periodically organise meetings with the local Quality team to monitor and update the data necessary to maintain or acquire ISO certifications. Since September 2024, I have spent half of my time supporting the Finance team.
Being responsible for numerous activities requires me to stay highly organised and focused. I structure my schedule to ensure punctuality and a balanced distribution of tasks. However, it’s equally important for me to remain flexible and adjust my plans when urgent needs arise in different departments.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
During my working week, I attend many recurring meetings, which provide me with the opportunity to engage with my colleagues and collaboratively develop a strategy for delivering our actions. My job is dynamic and I like it a lot, but it also requires concentration and the ability to work independently.
What are your career highlights?
The support I provide to the Finance department helps ensure that purchase invoices are registered promptly, making it easier for my colleagues to carry out the subsequent processes. Additionally, the tasks I handle for the Quality team and the data I collect and deliver are consistently on time. The work being done at the Frascati site is highly appreciated, and I’m very pleased to contribute to its success.
Working at Starion has given me – and continues to give me – the opportunity to apply my skills across various fields. I believe that it’s through our work that we truly discover how far we can push ourselves and often uncover strengths we didn’t know we had. I’ve been entrusted with responsibility, and that trust has been essential in helping me answer a question I constantly ask myself: “What contribution can I give to my company?”
How do you wind down?
After my working day, I like to go to the gym or to the pool for a swim, but most of all I can’t miss a walk in the park with my little dog Flo!
