We are looking for a System Support Engineer to join our CAMOS Team, working directly on‑site at EUROCONTROL’s Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

CAMOS stands for Centralised ARTAS Maintenance and Operational Support; the CAMOS Team is in charge of the provision of the CAMOS service for all ARTAS Systems within EUROCONTROL Member States Organisations. As part of a small team of 3 System Support Engineers, you will be trained to provide support and expertise to all ARTAS Users.

ARTAS is the ATM Surveillance Tracker and Server that has been deployed by the Agency in cooperation with Member States and Industry since the early 90’s.  ARTAS is now used operationally at 31 sites and in the pre-operational mode at another 20 sites.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Analysing and improving the CAMOS Team infrastructure used to develop and test ARTAS releases.
  • Analysing and improving Cybersecurity in ARTAS.
  • Designing and prototyping a virtualisation solution for ARTAS.
  • Handling requests and resolving issues related to installation, cybersecurity, networking, and SNMP.
  • Participating in User Group meetings and contributing to the Configuration Control Board (CCB).
  • Independently leading and taking ownership of activities such as;
  • Linux support
  • Definition of rules and documents
  • Creation of a ticketing system
  • Defining a platform for the future

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Masters University Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering field.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in software support activities.
  • Proficiency in LINUX operating systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
  • Experience with network communication standards and interoperability, including the configuration of switches and routers.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies such as KVM, oVirt, and VMware.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international, multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; French is considered an asset.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of C++, Java, or other programming languages.
